American Behavioral offers fully interdisciplinary treatment care which includes, Registered Nurses, Mental Health Professionals and Substance Use Disorder Counselors. In addition, clients are seen by a Psychiatric MD/ Addictionologist each day or as needed to assist with psychiatric and withdrawal concerns to help improve treatment outcomes. Our Evaluation & Treatment Center has 30+ beds (co-ed unit) dedicated for Involuntary Treatment Act (ITA) client services and Voluntary client services, known as Crisis Stabilization Unit. We partner with local communities such as Confluence Health, Catholic Charities, Columbia Valley Community Health, other local behavioral health facilities, and local Law Enforcement to provide a structured and safe space for recovery. When an individual suffers from acute psychiatric symptoms, and/or acute substance use withdrawal disorder, a Designated Crisis Responder (DCR) will evaluate and refer clients to an evaluation and treatment facility by the permanent law in force, known as the Revised Code of Washington (RCW) 71.05.

Many of these desired outcomes can be achieved during the initial 120 hour of detention, and proper hand-off to the clients long term medical, psychiatric, or substance treatment provider is very important. Occasionally, a client’s mental health or physical health is far worse and due to their own safety or safety of others, we do petition the court for an additional 14-days or Less Restrictive Alternative. Court is held in our facility two days a week, Tuesdays and Thursdays.
